Ruth Lincoln was born on September 30, 1897 on a farm ten miles outside Oklahoma City. She is a graduate of Oklahoma A & M, currently Oklahoma State University. Lincoln lived in Paragould, Batesville, Little Rock and Van Buren, where she and her late husband, Ben Lincoln, assisted the development of the county library. She is the grandmother of Dr. Steve Lincoln, the husband of Senator Blanche Lincoln. She spoke at the Clinton School when she was 109 years old. She died at her Little Rock home on Thursday, September 17, 2009. She would have turned 112 on Sept. 30.

Ruth Lincoln sits down for a public conversation with Clinton School Dean Skip Rutherford. During the conversation Lincoln recalls major events in American history including the Great Depression, women earning the right to vote and the bombing of Pearl Harbor among other events. Lincoln recalls going to college at Oklahoma A & M (currently Oklahoma State University) and her experiences leaving home for school. She also discusses her love of reading, spending time with her family and playing cards.
