Jared Cleveland currently serves as the superintendent of the Lavaca School District. He and his wife Cristi have three boys – Crason, Callen, and Camden. As a lifelong resident of rural Arkansas, he enjoys the beauty of the state; yet, recognizes the needs of its constituents. Outside his family, his interests include public service, politics, sports, and antique cars. Mr. Cleveland is scheduled to complete requirements for his doctorate in P-20 education administration from Harding University in 2012.

Building a Sustainable Model for School-based Community Medical Centers

Jared Cleveland, superintendent of the Lavaca (Ark.) School District, discusses his district’s creation of a school-based wellness clinic to provide both community patrons and students with medical services that have not been available in the area in 35 years. Part of the Arkansas Coordinated School Health Initiative, the clinic provides local families access to general medical care, dentistry, audiology and optometry. Cleveland discusses the relationship building, financial accountability and data collection necessary for creating a school-based medical center.
