Imam Mohammed

Son of Elijah Muhammad, Imam W. Deen Mohammed was leader and international spokesman for the Muslim American Society, the largest organization of African American Muslims in the nation. Mohammed was unanimously elected the new leader of the Nation of Islam upon his father’s death. He was favored for having a nonracial approach to religion and lectured at Yale, Harvard, Duke, Howard and Emory among others. Imam Mohammed passed away in Chicago at the age of 74 in 2008.

Leader and International spokesman for the Muslim American Society, Imam W. Dean Mohammed conducts a public question-and-answer forum in a public appearance hosted by the Clinton School. Mohammed touches on topics related to race and religion in America, as well as the coming 2008 presidential election. Son of the late Elijah Muhammad, Dean Mohammed also touches on the state of Islam in America today in regards to the movement of radical Islamists in the Middle East.
