Ranking America’s Colleges
Date: 8/28/2007
U.S. News and World Report Editor Brian Kelly discusses the publication’s popular “America’s Best Colleges” ranking system in a speech at the Clinton School. The magazine’s 2007-08 college rankings were released just days prior to Kelly’s appearance at the school. Kelly defends the rating system, which has recently come under attack by a group of college presidents claiming they do not properly represent American colleges and universities. Kelly contends that the method is a fair as possibly in that it leaves the rankings in the hands of peer institutions themselves.
