Dr. Paula Clayton is the medical director for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention leads initiatives for suicide prevention through medical research and issue advocacy. Prior to joining the Foundation, Clayton served as chairman of the department of psychiatry at the University of Minnesota for almost 20 years.

Dr. Paula Clayton discusses suicide prevention. As medical director of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, she states that suicide is the third leading cause of death of people ages 18 to 65. 60 percent of all suicides occur because of depression. "The most important thing, if you take nothing from this lecture, I hope you remember this, and that is most people who die by suicide have a psychological disorder."
