Marie Tillman is the wife of Corporal Pat Tillman, a former NFL football player who was killed serving in Afghanistan in 2004. Marie and Pat’s family and friends created the Pat Tillman Foundation following his death in 2004. The Foundation's goal and mission is to carry forward Pat's legacy by inspiring people to make positive changes in themselves and in the world around them. One of the ways in which the Foundation does this is through the Leadership Through Action program at the University of Arizona. This program seeks to enhance young people's leadership skills and helps them use their skills to develop solutions to today's problems. Alex Garwood, a close friend of Pat and Marie Tillman, is the executive director of the Pat Tillman Foundation.
