U.S Attorneys and the Constitution
Date: 5/7/2007

William J. Clinton Distinguished Lecturer John DiPippa addresses the recent controversial firings of eight United States Attorneys and claims that, contrary to the historic practice, U.S. Attorneys should not serve at the pleasure of the President. In addressing the controversy surrounding the Justice Department and Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, DiPippa argues that U.S. Attorneys must remain independent of the executive branch because of conflicts of interest that could arise.
